Kerecis Omega3 Wound è un prodotto brevettato a base di pelle di pesce intatta, con struttura acellulare, ricca in acidi grassi polinsaturi omega-3, impiegato nel trattamento di ferite gravi o che non guariscono e di altre lesioni tissutali. La pelle è ottenuta da pesce (merluzzo) da pesca sostenibile al largo delle coste islandesi. Poiché non vi è trasmissione di virus o prioni dal merluzzo atlantico (Gadus morhua) all’uomo, Kerecis Omega3 Wound può essere prodotto impiegando processi estremamente delicati che consentono di preservare la struttura tridimensionale e la composizione chimica della pelle del pesce. Grazie a questa procedura delicata, la struttura e la composizione di Kerecis Omega3 Wound osservate al microscopio elettronico risultano molto simili a quelle della pelle umana.
